Two Images in the RPS Summer Exhibition

I was delighted to find out that two of my images (shown below) have been selected to appear in the Royal Photographic Society Summer Exhibition.

The exhibition showcases photography by members of the Royal Photographic Society (RPS) and is selected from an open call to all RPS members. The 2023 exhibition will feature a total of 80 images, reflecting a diverse range of photographic styles, genres, and techniques including analogue, digital and experimental image making and covering subjects including landscapes, portraits, documentary, science and fine art.

The 2023 exhibition is on show from 1 July to 28 August at RPS House in Bristol, UK, and is free for everyone to visit. Visitors to the exhibition will get the chance to see the finest photography from RPS members, learn more about photography and connect with others who have a passion for taking photographs.

Best Nature Photograph in the World - Again!

Just heard that Diving Gannets took the Gold medal in the Nature Wildlife category in the World Photographic Cup - full results here.

The WPC is the only Olympics style event in the world for Photography. WPC Chief Executive Officer Giuseppe Scozzi, who led the ceremony, said “Over the past ten years the competition has grown and with it the standard of entries. WPC truly showcases the best in photography from across the world. Those who do succeed can truly claim to have created the best photography in the world and WPC is the vehicle for showcasing this work.”

In 2019 it was voted best image in the world at the FIAP World Cup, so this is the second time it has taken the honour.

Thank you to the gannets of Shetland!

Competition Success

I rarely enter photographic competitions these days but I do make the odd exception and in the last week I’ve had two successes with those exceptions.

The first was at the N&EMPF Inter-Club Projected Digital Image Championship 2023 where I was awarded Best Image with one of my high board divers “Reverse Pike”

The second was the Royal Photographic Society Nature Group’s Annual Exhibition where "Harlequin Shrimps, Indonesia" was awarded a Gold medal.

Happy days :-)

Diving Gannets to Represent the UK in the World Photographic Cup

Back in November I was told that my Diving Gannets image had been selected as one of twenty-four images to represent the UK in the World Photographic Cup. Thirty-two countries competed this year and yesterday the Finalists and “Best of Nation” Awards were announced at Imaging USA 2023.

Today I was told my image has been chosen as the UK’s “Best of Nation” image;

The WPC Awards Ceremony is in Singapore on March 17, 2023. I doubt I’ll attend - but I’d be lying to say I’m not excited :-)

Rolls Royce Camera Club Wins FIAP World Cup

I’m delighted to say that my camera club, Rolls Royce Derby, have just become the FIAP World Cup Champions 2022.

The World Cup for clubs is an international competition organised yearly by FIAP, dedicated to photographic clubs from around the world. Each club submits 20 images, with a maximum of 2 images per author. These images are then scored by a panel of international judges and the club with the top score become the champions.

224 clubs from 48 countries entered, submiting 4,385 images, so to come top of the lot is a very big achievement.

You can see all of the images used by Rolls Royce on the FIAP website here: https://www.fiap.net/en/world-cups/17th-fiap-world-cup-for-clubs-2022
